Bronze group of a pair
Bronze or copper, black-brown patinated. Fully inscribed with "Käthe Kollwitz" as well as addition "Ak. d. b. K. 1919". H 36 cm. 7,6 kg.
Probably depiction of Käthe Kollwitz with her dead son. Possibly also designed after a design for the monument "Mourning Parents" in memoriam to Käthe Kollwitz . Patina slightly rubbed.
After the son of Käthe Kollwitz had fallen in 1914, she was engaged until 1932 with the sculpture group "Mourning Parents". In 1919 Käthe Kollwitz became the first woman professor at the Academy of Arts in Berlin.
