Born of a family of watchmakers, Johann Conrad Felsing moved from the Black Forest to Berlin in about 1820 and founded his own watch workshop, which soon achieved great renown. After his death in 1870, his son Albert Karl Julius Felsing (1827-1901) took over the workshop and continued to run it as "Conrad Felsing". In a prime location "Unter den Linden 20" and adjacent to the Hotel Adlon, "Conrad Felsing" became one of the most important manufacturers and suppliers of quality watches. Albert Felsing, who was appointed court watchmaker, was, among other things, concessionaire for the Glashütte watch manufactory A. Lange & Söhne and maintained active trade relations with renowned Swiss watch manufacturers such as Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Alexander Hüning and IWC. His son Willibald Albert Felsing took over the business in 1901, which was completely destroyed by bombing during World War II.
