Baroque English lantern clock with musical mechanism. Henry Thornton.

brass wheel movement with Graham gear, quarter hour strike on bell, chime movement (10 hammers on 8 bells), function not tested (according to consignor information functional), revision recommended. Dial ring with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, minute ring and floral iron hands, date display at the 6, marked "Henry Thornton London".

Lantern clock converted as a wall clock with floral carving, large bell dome and side doors, square brass front, in the spandrels floral applications and mascarones. Signs of age and use, some repairs, 1 rope torn.
Pendulum with small lead pendulum lens, 2 large lead and 2 small iron weights, ropes. Henry Thornton (London): apprenticed to Samuel Steevens as a clockmaker in 1692, member of the London Clockmakers Company from 1699 (until 1732).
