1604
Baroque tabatiere for the Peace of Hubertusburg 1763. Ellwangen(?).
Shortly after 1763. Painting probably by Johann Andreas Bechdolff (1733 Bautzen - 1807 Ellwangen).
Copper enamel with a white background, enamel painting partly decorated and inscribed in gold, gilded copper mount. 3.5 x 8 x 6 cm.
Cuboid box with slightly domed hinged lid and decorated mounting. On the hinged lid a view of a castle with a winged Fama above; gold inscription with date below. Small landscapes with architecture on all sides and on the base; partly with staffage. In the lid a standing female allegory with sceptre and ear of corn as well as a plowing farmer in the landscape and golden inscription "Iam Audire Audet / Germania Papata". Lid motifs probably after the medal by Johann Leonhardt Oexlein. Minor traces of age/use on the outside, some hairline cracks on the inside, some old retouching.
Commemorating the Peace of Hubertusburg, which ended the Seven Years' War between Prussia, Austria and Saxony.
