Painted small farmer's chest from the Black Valley.
Probably early 18th century
Pinwood painted in polychrome. 25 x 53 x 30 cm.
Wedding chest with vermilion ground color, standing on pressed ball feet. In the profiled front 6 marbled, paired half-columns, on the two picture fields a woman and a man between flowers. Painted mock cassettes with peasant flowers on the sides and on the hinged lid as well as a carrying handle at the top. Inside sideboard as glove box. / Comes with the book "Bemalte Möbel aus Thüringen", in which this chest is illustrated. Restored, some signs of age/use, few traces of use, lock replaced.
