Bronze patinated. Founder's marks "F. Barbedienne, Fondeur. Paris" and "Reduction Mécanique A. Collas Brevete", inscribed in the figure "Ed Pitole"(?) and "!!!". 'H 35 cm. 8.0 kg.
Seated portrait of the author, lost in thought, with an empty inscription panel. After an allegorical figure created by the artist on the tomb of General LaMoricière in Nantes Cathedral (unveiled in 1879). Patina rubbed, drill holes from removed plaque on the bronze plinth.
P. Dubois was an artist in Paris, apprenticed to Toussaint, attended the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Also active in Italy (Rome and Florence), director of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts from 1878. The tomb of General LaMoricière is his main work, for whose figures he received the highest admiration and a medal of honor at the Universal Exhibition / Achille Callas (1795 - 1859) founded the Société Ferdinand Barbedienne et Achille Collas with Ferdinand Barbedienne in 1838, which concentrated on the reproduction of antique works of art.
