"The seated red fox by Erik Nielsen (1857 - 1947) is one of the animal depictions with which the Royal Porcelain Manufactory achieved world renown after the Paris World Exhibition in 1900. Nielsen began as a modeler at Bing & Grøndahl before moving to the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in 1887, where he worked until 1926. He mainly created animal sculptures. The fox model was later also included in the figurine program in a smaller form and with different painting as an arctic fox."
