Clear frosted glass and clear glass with white inner rim, black lacquered sheet iron with brass screws, screw mount. H 97 cm, Ø 30 cm.
Drop-shaped design classic made of 2-part glass with black lacquered retaining ring and link chain. Metal repainted, canopy missing. Electrified, function not tested.
Peter Behrens was a German architect, painter and designer and is considered a pioneer of modern industrial design. Appointed professor and member of the Darmstadt artists' colony in 1900, director of the Düsseldorf School of Arts and Crafts from 1903, became artistic advisor to the Allgemeine Elektrizitätsgesellschaft Berlin (AEG) in 1907.
