Depiction of Dryope at the moment of her transformation into a tree, after plucking the lotus flower into which the nymph Lotis was transformed. In her arms she holds her son Amphissos, at her feet kneels her sister. Minimal bump on the left thumb.
Provenance : From the Thuringian nobility. Restitution item with inventory number of the Altenburg Residential Palace, formerly part of the von der Gabelentz family collection at Poschwitz Castle.
