Baroque Thuringian faience jug with magnificent vase motif in baroque reserve.
Probably Erfurt. 18th century
White glaze, colored hot-fire painting. H 26.5 cm.
Cylindrical body with strap handle, manganese-painted walls all around, cartouche painting on the front with rocailles and leaves as well as a lavishly decorated flower vase. Profiled pewter lid with ball pusher, engraved "A.F.D.", punched inside, handle band, pewter stand. Mouth finely cracked, upper handle base broken, handle with pewter bolted into the wall, slight glaze defects and rubbing.
