Baroque Thuringian faience narrow-necked jug with unusual cartouche painting.
Probably marked. 1st half 18th century
White glaze, manganese sponging, painted in cobalt blue. H 33 cm.
Globular bellied jug with grodroned wall and ribbon handle, on the front a crowned and winged rocaille reserve with fine floral painting, flanked by baroque flowers. Original pewter mount, lid with ball finial, hallmarked inside, pewter stand with battlement border. Glaze with chips and rubbing, inside of mouth with fine crack, pewter with signs of age and defects.
