Baroque South German faience jug with floral painting. Bayreuth.
Unmarked glaze stain. Mid-18th century
Glazed white, painted in cobalt blue and manganese violet. H 25 cm.
Cylindrical body with a line-decorated ribbon handle, the front with an arrangement of flowers between tiered trees. Replaced pewter lid with ball finial, crowned engraving "A.B.K. 1767", stepped pewter stand. Rim slightly chipped, glaze rubbed and chipped, fine crack in the mouth area.
