Painter, graphic artist and university lecturer, studied - after encouragement from Emil Orlik - at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts and art history at Vienna University. Klemm was a member of the Vienna Secession (1904), the Dachau artists' colony and the Berlin Secession (1910). Depictions of animals such as these became more frequent in Klemm's work after his appointment as professor of graphic art at the Grand Ducal Saxon Academy of Fine Arts in 1913.
