Portrait of a smiling, elderly lady with patterned collar in three-quarter profile as shoulder piece, face in fine contours.
German painter, studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Aachen from 1927 to 1930, later at the Munich Art Academy, was a lecturer at the art school in Wernigerode, master of Heinrich Ehmsen at the Academy of Arts in Berlin and professor of painting at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee, where he later also became rector.
