Representative large indoor monument: Francis I, King of France on horseback
Bronze with black patina, minimal remnants of a gold-coloured coating. The head and arms of the rider as well as the tail and numerous appliqués are mounted. Inscribed. 80 x 90 x 40 cm.
Equestrian monument of the French king (François Ier, le Roi-Chevalier, 1494 - 1547), riding the spirited stallion in a magnificent costume with feathered hat and wearing the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece. Very detailed cast with numerous appliqués. Some loose mounts, leg and neck seam on the horse visibly with hairline cracks, 1 decorative flower missing from the rear harness, unobtrusive traces of a removed plaque on the plinth, some signs of age/use.
French sculptor, pupil of Lequien and Pradier. He exhibited at the Paris Salon.
