4/4 lion's head violin with bow in case.
Printed label "Jacobus Stainer in Absam prope Oenipontum 1660". Sheet unsigned. Probably around 1900.
Split maple back and split spruce top, ebonized fingerboard. Pernambuco(?) bow. Body 35.5 cm, bow 72 cm.
Violin with carved lion's head in place of the scroll. Bow with round stick and bone frog with carved volute and frog screw made of bone. Accessories: 2 mutes, 1 tin of rosin ("Gustave Bernandel"), tuning pipe, some strings. Black case inside with blue plush and embroidered protective cover. Small glued cover crack at the sound hole, nicks on the body. Bow and case with some signs of age/use.
