18th century. Arita, Japan.
H 36.5 cm.
Imari porcelain. Jug standing on three figural feet with a small brass tap. The hexagonal wall is decorated in relief and painted in underglaze blue and polychrome, with depictions of flowers and mythical creatures. Upper rim double-walled, with honeycomb-shaped openings. Small firing cracks, handle and knob glued.
Provenance : Acquired in Asia in the 1950s. Inventory number on the lid.
