New Year's plaque 1816. Königliche Eisengießerei Berlin(?).
19th century, probably recast.
Blackened cast iron. 6.7 x 9.1 cm (without eyelet).
Rectangular plaque with original suspension loop. Indistinct inscription in central wreath cartouche: "Glorreiche Waffen giebt das Eisen, in Künsten schafft es Schmuck und Nutzen. God bless the iron work 1816". Around the cartouche various iron works of the foundry as well as the monograms of Emperor Alexander I and King Frederick William III, who visited the foundry together at the end of 1815. Rusty.
