Small Thuringian faience stein with Herrnhut stars. Johann Andreas Vogel, Erfurt.
Blue brush mark V. Circa 1730/40.
White glaze, colored hot-fire painting. H 21 cm.
Cylindrical body with decorated ribbon handle, pilaster decoration on the wall with alternating baroque reserves and round medallions with Herrnhut poinsettias, S and line borders on the top and bottom. Profiled pewter lid with ball finial, engraved and dated "J.M.H. 1789", indistinctly hallmarked inside, pewter stand ring. Pewter with traces of soldering, cracked walls and base, partially bumped and rubbed, defects to the glaze.
