TIERMAL 19TH CENTURY,
Two young terriers
Oil on canvas. Unsigned.
48 x 57 cm. Framed : 57 x 66 cm.
It is a well-known fact that young animals trigger an automatic protective instinct in the viewer, so it is hardly surprising that painters liked to make use of this effect. The two young, clumsy terriers are integrated into a kind of genre depiction. Profiled frame in mint condition with gold-framed molding. Doubled, three patches on the reverse.
