Horn tabatiere with bataille motif.
1st half of the 19th century
Dark horn, pressed relief on the lid. 2 x 9.5 x 5.5 cm.
Flat rectangular box, on the hinged lid a battle scene with French inscription: "Le soldat francaise meurt et ne se rend pas". Some chipping to the edge of the lid, otherwise hardly any signs of age/use.
Depicts the defeat of the French at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 under Napoleon.
