Baroque corner cabinet secretary with ornate relief carving.
Late 18th century
Oak, solid and dark stained. Top approx. 114 x 121.5 x 54 cm, base 124 x 140 x 74 cm, leg length approx. 77 cm, total leg length approx. 100 cm.
2-part corner carcase with beveled front edges. 1-door display cabinet top with curved and florally carved pediment, decorative fillets and mullioned glazing. 2-door base cabinet with sloping desk and hinged writing surface, coffered and elaborately carved fronts with floral foliage, lions and a rider with horses, monogrammed and dated "T St M C H 1787". Display cabinet inside with 2 curved cut shelves, writing desk inside with 2 open compartments and 3 drawers each divided on the inside with brass knobs, base cabinet without key and cannot be opened. Oval keyhole fittings, some with loop crowning, made of brass, iron locks. Signs of age and wear, slight defects in places.
