The design was awarded a gold medal at the 1960 Milan Triennale and exhibited several times. The cutlery manufactory was founded by Carl Hugo Pott in 1904 as a damask ornamental workshop in Solingen. After his son Carl Pott joined the company in 1932, it developed into a major manufacturer of cutlery. In 1985, his son Hannspeter Pott took over the business.
