Rare songbird music box in gold. Flajoulot, Paris.
Late 19th century.
667 yellow gold (16 ct). 3.5 x 9.5 x 6 cm. Gold case: 266.4 grams (weighed without inner workings), total weight: 537 grams.
Plate signed. Curved rectangular body, decorated in relief on all sides. Cupid, bow and arrow between ornaments, cartouche with seed pearls and colored enamel painting on the lid. Mechanism with hinged lid and movable bird. Inner lid with colorful flower bouquet in enamel painting. The trilling bird with iridescent plumage, movable beak and fluttering wings. Spring-wound base, the movement released by a lateral slider, with a key with a pair of beaked doves and a heart in a rosary.
