Roll top letter box and sloping desk writing box.
2nd half 19th century
Solid oak, stained dark / solid mahogany with walnut marquetry on the lid. 31 x 34 x 32 cm / 26 x 29 x 16 cm. Total weight 6.6 kg.
Letter box with slanted roller shutter and drawer with recessed handle in the front. Inside numerous compartments as well as added inkwell made of blue glass / Writing box with block inlays in walnut veneer on the slanted hinged flap, which when opened results in the slanted writing surface with blue leather cover; in the body numerous compartments with secret compartment. Opened glue joint and some veneer damage to the slanted desk, minor damage to the leather cover. Otherwise minor signs of age/use.
