Large boy's head
Bronze patinated. Marked, label (from an exhibition?) in the base with no. "886" and handwritten notes. H 48 cm. 15.0 kg.
Life-size bust of the pensive-looking boy with very curly hair and a slight turn of the head to the right. The psychological capture of the delicate state of mind is impressive.
A sculptor and medallist in Berlin who also wrote Schauß. After an apprenticeship at the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (KPM), studied at the Berlin Academy under Schaper and Herter; further training under Chapu and Puech at the Académie Julian Paris. From 1893 regularly took part in the Great Berlin Art Exhibition. Awarded the "Grand State Prize" of the Berlin Academy and the "Golden Medal for Art". From 1898 he spent a year and a half in Rome at the Villa Strohl-Fern.
