Rape of the Sabine
Bronze patinated, light marble plinth. H 32 / 34 cm. 2.4 kg.
The famous dramatic group of the female robbery here after the version in the Museo di Capodimonte in Naples. The bearded Roman with a flowing cloak over his shoulder lifts the young Sabine woman into the air. The man's legs with hairline cracks, 1 of the woman's arms soldered, casting defects visibly reworked by the foundry, patina rubbed.
