            Iserlohn tobacco box Frederick the Great.  
Lid marked "I.H. Giese fec", base marked "Giese". Circa 1760.  GIESE,  Johann Heinrich (1716 - 1761) 
Lid and base embossed sheet brass, sheet copper rim. 3 x 16.5 x 5 cm. 
  Framed portrait of the King of Prussia on the hinged lid under a crowned monogram cartouche and above the Prussian eagle with trophies. Bottom with 3 inscribed cartouches: Victories at Prague, Reichenberg and Bombardment of Prague.  Minor cracks to the edge of the lid and bottom, some signs of age/use. 
Johann Heinrich Giese was an engraver and chaser in Iserlohn. He was one of the first to use the embossing technique with steel dies.
