72 x 50 cm. Framed : 85 x 65 cm.
Remains of an old adhesive label with seal on the reverse, dated: 1803. One adhesive label with owner's note: From the property of the Zdeborsky family, Prague-Potschernitz, in the possession of Bianca Jahn and restoration note: Restored by Prof. Ernst Pokorny, academic painter, dated: January 1941, with the artist's signature and seal. Gilded stucco frame. Firnis needs to be reworked.
Kohl, Czech painter, draughtsman, etcher, studied at the Academy in Vienna. Pupil of Jakob Matthias Schmutzer. 1769 full member of the Vienna Academy, 1775-1821 taught in Prague. Works in several Czech museums. A similar motif (oil on wood, 66 x 87 cm) hangs in the National Gallery in Prague * Partner auction Bergmann.

Provenance : According to oral tradition, formerly from the estate of Emanuel Max von Wachstein (1810-1901, Bohemian sculptor), most recently southern German family property of Czech origin.
