Softwood glue block, polychrome painted, partly gilded. Artist's stamp on the base with address in Oberammergau, "Handgeschnitzt" seal of quality and adhesive label "Internationale Handwerksmesse München". H 62 cm. 6.7 kg.
Morris dancer after Erasmus Grasser (around 1450 - 1518) in dynamic, expansive movement. He is dressed in a wine-red robe with gold-colored applications and a white headband. Partially open glued wood joint on one leg, frame rubbed in places.
1953 Hans Klucker founded the carving workshop in Oberammergau, which is still active today. 1974 Hans Klucker received the Bavarian government's state prize in the form of a gold medal for outstanding craftsmanship. 1989 Takeover of the workshop by son-in-law Michael Pfaffenzeller.
