Biedermeier picture cup: The Punishment of Cupid. KPM Berlin.

Polychrome painted, decorated in gold. Cup (h 9 m), original saucer (Ø 14.5 cm).
Footed bell-shaped cup with ear-shaped handle. The front with a gold-framed medallion depicting a Cupid tied to a tree with a rose tendril and being pelted with roses by two angry Graces, after a painting by Angelika Kauffmann (1741-1870). Verso salmon-colored ground with gold-painted tendrils, relief gold-painted pointed arch border on the rim, gold-engraved acanthus leaves on the foot and base of the bowl, gilded inside.
