Amphora potpourri with pâte-sur-pâte decoration. Meissen.
Molding 1900-1923. model no. H 20 (new mold no. 51234).
Height: 31 cm.
Mold model by Christian Gottfried Jüchtzer and collaborators. Model year: 1782-1785 (mold), pâte-sur-pâte decoration around 1900. Floral relief, medium blue ground, rich gold decoration. Frontal "Floating Flora with Cupid" in large oval reserve. Mounted round foot over a square plinth. Incised mark, impressed mark, sword mark. Cover plate expertly restored.
* Pâte-sur-pâte decoration: Cameo-like, flat relief applied in layers with a brush to the already colored vessel. Ludwig Sturm, Paul Kretzschmar and Julius Hentschel in particular executed these elaborate brush reliefs in Meissen. All lots with a limit (starting price) of at least €1,500 are checked against the Art Loss Register database.
