Amphora potpourri with pâte-sur-pâte decoration. Meissen.
Molding 1900-1923. model no. H 20 (new mold no. 51234).
Height: 30.5 cm.
Mold model by Christian Gottfried Jüchtzer and collaborators. Model year: 1782-1785 (mold), pâte-sur-pâte decoration around 1900. Floral relief, medium blue ground, rich gold decoration. Frontal "Floating Hebe with Cupid" in large oval reserve. Mounted round foot over square plinth. Sword mark. Lid, rim restored at the bottom of the mount.
* Pâte-sur-pâte decoration: Cameo-like, flat relief applied in layers with a brush to the already colored vessel. Ludwig Sturm, Paul Kretzschmar and Julius Hentschel in particular executed these elaborate brush reliefs in Meissen. All lots with a limit (starting price) of at least €1,500 are checked against the Art Loss Register database.
