Art deco clock case with cupids. Meissen.
Molding 1921. model year: 1920, model no. F 270 (A 1009, new mold no. 60830). Model from. SCHEURICH, Paul(1883 New York - 1945 Brandenburg)
Height: 37.5 cm, width: 58 cm.
Painted in color, painted gold. Original porcelain dial with Arabic numerals in relief, original porcelain pendulum bob. Lenzkirch movement with striking mechanism on bell, key winding. Mounted ball feet. Incised mark, press mark, painter's mark, sword mark, press mark: Of 5 original pieces no. 4, handwritten artist's signet, dated: 1921.THE FIRST EXEMPLAR WAS SOLD IN SEPTEMBER 1921 FOR 3824,- MARK. The production of masterpieces (artist's proofs) was introduced in 1918. The shaping and painting of these pieces was supervised or reworked by the artist himself. Therefore, masterpieces are usually signed by the artist himself in overglaze paint. Firing cracks testify to the technical difficulties in the production of original pieces. Partially small firing cracks, two tassels on the front, base slightly bumped, hands replaced, movement functional in the short-term test.
* Scheurich, painter, graphic artist, illustrator, sculptor, modeller, studied at the academy in Berlin. From 1912 first works for the Meissen manufactory, KPM Berlin and Nymphenburg. Titular professor in 1924, his figures present exuberance and elegance, his facial expressions and gestures reflect temperament and passion, one of the most important porcelain sculptors of his time * Meissen manufactory price: 33,000 euros.
