Pewter, brass insert. H 36 cm. 0.8 kg.
Two-light candlestick with a wide base and a shaft tapering upwards, crowned by an oval element with stylized, vegetal Art Nouveau ornaments. The two candlestick arms are fitted with drip trays, one of which is additionally lined with a brass element on the inside. Slight signs of age and wear, 1 brass insert missing.
Architect and designer in Vienna, Darmstadt and Düsseldorf (1867 Troppau - 1908 Düsseldorf), pupil of Hasenauer and Wagner. Alongside Josef Hoffmann, he was the main leader of the Vienna Secession and had a decisive influence on the renewal of German design culture.
