Probably 19th century.
Softwood polychrome painted. 58.0 x 45.5 x 1.3 cm. 2.44 kg.
Presumably the shield of a mapmaker. Painting shows a Jack of Clubs (Trèfle Valet) from the Rouen map painting (traceable since 1500). The pictorial composition was probably designed at the end of the 18th - beginning of the 19th century. Signs of age and wear on the front, wood with superficial cracks, loss of color, the nails with traces of oxidation. Shield on the back with 2 mounted stabilization strips, probably added more recently, one corner on the back with traces of moisture.
Back with pencil inscription "Baraja" (Spanish: "deck of cards") and branded inscription "Made in Spain".
