Hand-carved and polychrome painted wood, upper arms and thighs made of wire with padding, various fabrics (including velvet and silk), some with wire work, appliqués mostly made of metal. H maximum 42 cm, L Infant Jesus 14 cm. Total weight 3.8 kg.
Very finely and realistically carved nativity figures: Baby Jesus lying in the wooden crib with straw and coarse cloth. The standing Joseph and the kneeling Mary are distinguished by halos. The splendidly dressed Magi present their gifts, while formally dressed figures (old man, young woman and a girl) bring fruit baskets and flowers in various gestures. Some chipped paint on 3 hands, handle of the somewhat bent naviculum missing, 1 basket slightly damaged.
1953 Foundation of the still active carving workshop by Hans Klucker in Oberammergau. 1974 Hans Klucker received the Bavarian government's state prize in the form of a gold medal for outstanding craftsmanship. 1989 Takeover of the workshop by his son-in-law Michael Pfaffenzeller.
