Relief mark "John Bell" for Minton & Co, Stoke-on-Trent, and register mark, 2nd half 19th century
Bisque, white. H 34.5 cm.
Parian ware. A young woman dressed in male attire seated on a stone plinth, a pair of shoes and a bundle lying at her feet. After a statue by the English sculptor John Bell (1811-1895), who created the sculpture in 1844 after the figure of Dorothea from Miguel de Servantes' novel "Don Quixote". 2 chips to the collar hem, 1 corner of the jacket chipped.
