Embossed script mark and embossed mark Lacing Fox, before 1926. marked. Model no. U 177. design: 1918. MEISEL, Hugo (1887 Lichte - 1966 Rudolstadt)
Polychrome painted, decorated in gold. H 32.5 cm.
Dancer in oriental costume standing on a round base. Left hand restored, headdress chipped.
Vasantasena is a central figure in the classical ancient Indian play Mṛcchakaṭikā, who is often depicted as a courtesan or dancer. She is known for her beauty, artistry and nobility of spirit and is often portrayed as the prototype of the cultured Indian dancer (bayadere).
Provenance : Museum estate of Peter Kaus.
