Patinated bronze. H 46 cm. 18,2 kg.
Recast of the faun family: crowned faun and nymph in a loving embrace as well as the child who wants to be picked up. 1 arm and 1 leg seam with hairline crack, patina somewhat scratched at the back.
Clodion was one of the most important representatives of French sculpture of the 18th century. He worked mainly in bronze and clay and is known above all for his elaboration of mythical themes from antiquity, especially for his nymphs, fauns, satyrs and putti, which he created for the palaces of the Parisian nobility.
