Large table lamp, Agathon Léonard: The game with the scarf.

Bronze, gilded. Height: 60 cm. 16,1 kg.
Artist's signet, foundry mark: Susse Freres Editeurs Paris, below the letter M. Electrified, one light source. Figure from the "Jeu de l'écharpe" series from 1897. The figures were also produced in Sévres porcelain in various sizes, the Susse Freres foundry secured the bronze production in 1901. For the figure, Léonard was inspired by the dancer Loïe Fuller, alias Marie Louise Fuller (1862-1928), who was the first dancer to use electric light in her serpentine dances. Partially with slight wear.
* Léonard (actually Agathon Léonard van der Weydeveld), French sculptor, artisan of Belgian descent, studied at the academies in Lille and Paris. 1868 Salon debut, regularly represented at French exhibitions, 1887 member of the Société des Artistes Francais, received several medals at the Paris World Exhibition, 1900 Knight of the Legion of Honor.
