Rare large vase with East Asian decoration. Meissen.
Mold 1923. model no. 3 (new mold no. 50401).
Height: 38.5 cm.
Mold model by Georg Fritzsche based on an East Asian model, model year: 1725-1727. So-called "Schlossvase", the vase form was originally intended to decorate the Japanese Palace in Dresden. Colorful painting all around according to historical model. Decorated with dragons, birds of paradise, insects and flowers. Blossoms and buds partially in gold. Incised mark, pressed mark, blue AR mark with 1923. Mouth and upper wall partially restored.
* When Max Adolf Pfeiffer became director in 1918, he ordered that newly produced pieces with old marks should be clearly marked as new; since then, the number of the year of manufacture was usually added to prevent pieces marked AR from being traded as antique porcelain * Meissen manufactory price: 17,500 euros.
