Model after the large sculpture from 1932. The figure in Dalmatian costume holds a stone slab with Glagolitic characters in the angular Croatian form.
* Mestrovic, Croatian sculptor and architect, studied at the Academy in Vienna, 1922-1941 professor at the Academy in Zagreb, resident in the USA since 1946. Worked as a professor in the USA from 1947-1962, acquired US citizenship in 1954, works in numerous international museums.
