Freezing woman in the wind
Terracotta. inscribed "L. Mignon". H 54.5 cm. 3.65 kg.
A standing young woman on a polygonal plinth. She holds her flowing robe close to her chest, while a lute is clamped under her right arm. Signs of age and wear, hairline cracks, minimal chipping.
If it should be Léon Mignon, then: Belgian sculptor (1847 Liège - 1898 Schaerbeek), at the age of ten he began to gain his first experience with the sculptor Leopold Nappuis, studied at the Académie royale des beaux-arts de Liège, was a pupil of Prosper Drion (1822-1906), traveled to Rome and Paris.
