Antique female figure - "Poesie"
Cast metal, burnished, yellowish stone base and column. inscribed "H. Levasseur", with mark "Farbrication Francaise. Made in France. Paris", base plaque "Poesie". H 55 cm / 53 cm. 8.30 kg.
Standing female figure in a long robe, leaning against a light-colored column. On the column are books and paper, on which the poetess is leaning thoughtfully. Chipped bluing, scratches on the sculpture and column, chipped base.
If it should be Henri Louis Levasseur, then: French sculptor (1853 Paris - 1934 ibid.), he learned sculpture from Augustin-Alexandre Dumont, Jules Thomas and Eugène Delaplanche.
