Plaster, on a green stone base. "Prof. Ernst Seger 1901" inscribed and dated. 49 x 45 x 30 cm. 15.45 kg.
A young woman sitting on a polygonal plinth, trying to push away with her left arm the young man kneeling next to her and embracing her. Signs of age and wear, small finger of the woman's right hand defective as well as hairline cracks on the left forearm and right wrist, larger flaking, scratches and chips on the reverse, chipped plinth.
Ernst Seger: German sculptor and medalist, attended the sculpture class at the Royal School of Arts and Crafts in Breslau under Robert Härtel from 1884, worked in Christian Behrens' studio from 1886, after working in Auguste Rodin's studio in Paris in 1893 and 1894 he ran his own studio in Berlin.
