Very large marble bust of a high-standing Renaissance lady with lace collar
White marble. "C. Scheggi e Fec. Firenze" inscribed. H 72 cm. 64.40 kg.
The bust of a young woman with curled hair pinned back on a round base. Presumably depicting a historicizing ideal type of a Renaissance lady, adorned with a richly decorated lace collar and precious jewellery. Chips and adhesions to the lace collar and chipping to the base, slight signs of age and wear.
Cesare Sheggi: Italian sculptor, known for his female portrait busts and sculptures with mythological motifs in marble and alabaster.
