Art Nouveau terracotta female figure "La Cigale". Fontaine & Durieux, Paris.
Press mark and inscribed "Fabrication francaise" and "terre cuite [au] feu" on the verso. Around 1900, incised "J. Le Guluche" on the base. Design: Joseph LE GULUCHE (1849-1915).
Red body, matt color painted. H approx. 42 cm.
Standing girl with headscarf and mandolin, on a square natural base, titled "La Cigale" (The Cicada), here probably as an allegory of a beggar woman.
