Art Nouveau terracotta figurine group "Gladiator, leading a lion". Vienna manufactory Friedrich Goldscheider.
Relief mark GS 13 Sculpture, 1900-1920, with the addition "Fabriqué en Autriche", remnants of a dealer's label. Signed "Cherc" on the base. Model no. 4156 35 15. Design: ca. 1911.
Light body, dark bronze matt glaze. H approx. 58 cm.
Gladiator standing in pose with trident, wielding a lion, on a terrain base. Trident with wooden staff and applied brass prongs. Light glaze rubbing and chipping, loincloth retouched, fine cracks in places.
