* Knauf, late Impressionist landscape painter, studied at the academy in Düsseldorf. Since 1921 represented at exhibitions in Königsberg (East Prussia, from 1946 Kaliningrad) and Memel (since 1923 Klaipéda, Lithuania), from 1931 resident in Nidden (since 1923 Nida, Lithuania). An artists' colony came together in Nidden, which also included Max Pechstein, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and Lovis Corinth, works in the East Prussian State Museum in Lüneburg.
